Jack of All Trades

"A jack of all trades, or a master of one". That's what came to me suddenly as i was going about randomly with the household chores.

There are actually a lot of things that i really wish to learn but i know that it is impossible for me to master all of them given the time constraints, so the question is do i still make an effort to learn them, or do i just focus on one thing at a time?

I really wish to learn how to draw manga/anime characters; in fact, i've been drawing a few sketches of certain characters from the mangas i've read for this month. A more appropriate term should be copying, i guess, considering that i refer to the manga as i draw. Some turned out quite decent and looks nice if you do not compare it with the original, others a little weird..
Anyway, my conclusion is that the hardest part to draw is the eyes, since it's "the window of the soul" as many would say, which would convey the character's feelings to the readers and it is difficult to show this through a few strokes of the pen. The easiest would definitely be the hair since if it's not drawn properly, it can simply be taken as hair that is a little messy^^, but it usually turns out right in the end.

Another thing that i started working on about 1 to 2 weeks ago is learning programming. I found a book called "HTML for dummies" in the library but haven't gotten round to reading it yet and my progress has stagnated for a few days now simply because i'm too lazy to get round to reading it...

I also love fiddling with stuff like watches, clocks, taps, etc, using screwdrivers and stuff... The list just goes on... But liking something doesn't mean that you'll be good at it. I remember an incident many years back in the old house where i tried to open the drain of the sink to try and retrieve something that dropped inside(a earring, i think), and ended up causing the sink to leak! Haha this incident had sort of deterred me from doing anything like this again though i still fiddle with my own watches since it will inconvenience no one even if i were to spoil it or fail to repair it. I just hate the feeling of being unable to fix something and having to go to the trouble to send it for repairs or to call for help...

Aaah... This is one of my longest entries in a while and i think it'll do for reflections for 2008, even though i think it's more of a reflection for December only ^^''. Anyways, my conclusion is to be a "Jack of all trades" =D
Maybe i'll continue with my reflections for the earlier part of the year some other time when i feel the urge to blog again and if i remember everything that happened in this year full of changes for me to adapt to.
